Tab Muter - Chrome Extension to Mute Audio
Tab Muter is a Chrome extension to re-enable the "Mute Tab" feature. It re-implements the old feature, but in a different place. It was removed from Chrome in the name of UX, but Chrome can no longer detect when audio is playing on tabs and mute them. I made this extension to let the user decide which tabs should be playing audio. The button looks in a different place, but this extension should work as the old feature did.
The extension has an icon that looks like a speaker and when you click on it, it will mute all audio on the current tab. If you want to stop that mute, just click on the icon again and it will unmute the audio. It can also be used to unmute audio on sites such as Youtube and Youtube TV.
The extension comes in two versions: the first is a beta version, and the second is a stable version. The stable version has a few differences in the code and the UI and works better.
